Business Got Better

Guest post by Gerard Mcdaniel

My restaurant was doing well, but not as well as I wanted. We were a brunch concept spot and though we had a lot of regular customers they were a little older than we thought they should be as a whole. We hired a kid from the local college to work with us on getting a social networking campaign together and so far it’s really improved things! We’ve got a much younger demographic in and even went to www.Bank-Card-Processing.com to see about accepting credit cards for the first time so I’m feeling good about where business is headed. Turns out all we needed was a push in the right direction and someone to help us appeal to the demographic we weren’t easily reaching. Gary was great and we told him he could eat at the restaurant free of charge any time he wanted while he was getting his degree – we figured it was the least we could do for the kid who helped us grow our business bigger than ever!

Going Out For Dessert Is A Nice Break Any Time

Thanks to Wm Rowe

We don’t go out for dessert very often since it can be hard on both the pocketbook and the waistline. It is nice to take the family out for dessert and coffee to have some quiet activity and spend quality time together. We always set our home securtity alarm (HomeSecurity 101.com) before we go out for dessert, because we never really know exactly when we will return. We usually combine the dessert and coffee trip with a little window shopping or errand running since all our favorite dessert locations are close to areas ! where we need to accomplish things. There is always shopping nearby in the form of either a “everything” store like Target, a mall or specialty shops in strip malls.

We love the “dessert only” shops that serve frozen confections like ice cream or frozen yogurt and any number of fabulous desserts made from these items. So many flavors are available in so many combinations that it has become difficult to choose what we really want! Just as good are some local venues which make their own dessert specialties from scratch. These places often have an exotic selection of drinks like a variety of coffees, teas or italian sodas. We like them all, so we usually try to go to these places in the evening after dinner so that we have less room to fit in calories and we are inclined to take it easy on the caffienated or overly sweet drink selection.

Tasting the KFC Double Down

We’ve heard the hype about the KFC Double Down, mostly from news reporters feigning shock at what people will eat. I say feigning because is this really so different and so much more awful – health-wise – than what people regularly eat? Most restaurants that I’ve been to that have fried chicken on the menu [...]

Favorite Roasted Chicken Recipe

I love chicken.  I love everything about it from the neck to the gizzards.  And I love it prepared almost any way – soup, fried, roasted or in a recipe. Here’s my favorite way to roast a whole chicken. We start in my herb garden.  It’s still taking its winter nap but I still have [...]

A Word about Bacon

I am a carnivore.  OK, technically I’m an omnivore but one with overtly carnivorous tendencies.  To me, being a carnivore means liking meat.  The less like it’s original form, or the more processed it is, the less I like it.  I love steak.  I like bacon and ham.  Hot dogs and baloney?  Unless I’m in [...]

Pork Butt Steak with Sauerkraut

Here’s what I had for a late lunch today, which made any thought of supper laughable. I loaded down two thick cut – 3/4″ to 1″ – bone-in pork butt steaks with generous amounts of black pepper and ground Cheyenne plus a pinch of seasoned salt and garlic powder. I put them in a casserole [...]
